Abstract

Geography of translation as pathway and inner dialogue: some examples of poetic translation from English into Italian
In this contribution I take into consideration four examples of poetic translation from English into Italian, which I completed over the years, used here to outline a hermeneutical and geographical pathway towards translation, traceable to my own migratory journey through different places and contexts. The oeuvres in question are Ain’t I a Woman (1851) from Soujourner Truth (1797-1883), Otagamiad (1827) by Jane Johnston Schoolcraft (1800-1841), The Puritan by Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010), and Male Rage Poem by Pier Giorgio Di Cicco (1949).
