Abstract

Paths of integration in the Italian novel by Ignazio Silone and in the Indo-English colonial work of Raja Rao
This study adopts an intercultural framework to analyze the Italian novel Fontamara (1933) by Ignazio Silone, which opened the path to new integration processes, and Raja Rao’s Indian-English novel Kanthapura (1938), which employs indigenous values and models that spur innovation on both the imagination and on language choices.
