Literature and Anthropology: On Recounted Interactions in a 17th Century Travel Account from Nouvelle-France
The author analyses a few aspects of a text written in 1636 by the Jesuit missionary, Jean de Brébeuf, during his work among the Huron. Combining epistemological realism with a consideration for textual effects, the author underlines the historical and anthropological value of the knowledge provided by these documents produced in “contact zones”.
