The Remainder by Alia Trabucco Zerán and the (return of the) Bodies: a Metaphorical and Dystopian Trip
The novel investigates the persistence of memory. The devastating effects of the dictatorship are filtered through the perspective of a generation that, despite not having experienced in first person, has remained deeply troubled. The protagonists’ road trip turns into a metaphorical and dystopian journey in which the generations of sons try to regain possession of something stolen from them forever.
