The Genovese Dialect in South America
The lexical influence of the Genovese dialect on Rio de la Plata Spanish is quantitatively and qualitatively relevant and is distinguished by original features in the more general context of the Italian influence. Indeed, it is connected with the spill-over of specific cultural and socio-anthropological features of the Ligurian regional culture that contributed to the development of the peculiar urban culture of Buenos Aires.
