Keywords:
emigrazione femminile, artiste, lettere, teatroAbstract
Women Artists with a Suitcase. Giacinta Pezzana from Buenos Aires to Montevideo (1909-1914)
The essay focuses on a peculiar kind of emigration, that which involves women artists – even famous ones - who are forced to undertake exhausting tournées across Latin America in order to face economic restraint. Particularly, the essay concentrates on Giacinta Pezzana, who, in 1910, celebrated her fifty-year career in Buenos Aires rather than in Italy, while she founded an academy in Montevideo.
