Filippo Salvatore presenta l’evoluzione del cinema di Paul Tana, regista quebecchese di origine italiana, dalle prime prove documentaristiche degli anni Settanta, ai film commerciali degli anni Novanta, focalizzandosi sulla docu-fiction “Caffè Italia, Montréal” (1985). La pellicola, secondo l’autore, rispecchia le posizioni teoriche che emergono negli anni Ottanta all’interno dell’intelligentsia italo-quebecchese.
Paul Tana, Director of the Italian Migration in Montreal
This article presents the evolution of the filmography of Paul Tana, a Quebecois director born in Italy, from his first attempts in the Seventies to the commercial movies of the Nineties. Salvatore analyses in particular “Caffè Italia, Montréal” (1985), a docu-fiction which is, according to the scholar, the mirror of the theoretical positions proposed by the Italian-Quebecois intelligentsia in the Eighties.
