Bordar la memoria del temblor
Keywords:
To embroider the memory of the earthquake
On the 19th of September, 1985 something changed forever in the life of the inhabitants of Mexico City. Among wreckage, tears and fear, the people discovered a helping hand of their own, their fail-safe energy against an incompetent government, their generosity among death and horror. From the verses of José Emilio Pacheco and David Huerta, and the coverage of Poniatowska, Cristina Pacheco and the never-forgotten Monsiváis, to the babies that fought for their lives under the rubble of the General Hospital and the seamstresses that revealed like unknown heroes the shadows of disgrace, this city stood up to make a homage to those missing, and be aware of their own transformation.
