Mapping Ludotopias in Italian American Women’s Writing

In this article, I explore games and play as potential sites of articulation of utopia for third-generation Italian American women writers: I refer to this metaphorical space as ludotopia, seeking to establish whether ludotopias can (still) effectively be conceived as a pathway towards self-assertion. I will focus specifically on Diane di Prima, Annie R. Lanzillotto, Kym Ragusa and Rita Ciresi.

In questo articolo, esploro i giochi e il ludico come potenziali luoghi di articolazione dell’utopia nella scrittura di autrici italoamericane di terza generazione: mi riferisco a tale spazio metaforico come ludotopia, indagando se le ludotopie possano essere (ancora) concepite come una via ideale per l’autoaffermazione. Esaminerò le opere di Diane di Prima, Annie Lanzillotto, Kym Ragusa e Rita Ciresi.
