Se analiza la obra de José Cecilio del Valle en el periódico El Amigo de la Patria, publicado en Guatemala de octubre 1820 a marzo 1822, páginas en las cuales dejó escrito su pensamiento de la América Central en el año previo a su independencia de la corona española, el año que sucedió y el año posterior a ella, lo que nos permite entender su pensar utópico y la distopía que es ahora
la región.
